The first Spanish supercar is set to begin production in the form of the GTA Spano and it has been unveiled for the first time in full production form at the Geneva Motor Show. The model you see before you is the end product of a project that has been going for the past five years. A preview was given last year when a pre-production concept was shown at the same show and after another 12 months of development, the full specs and details can be reported. Power is drawn from a massive 8.3-liter V10 engine that pumps 820 hp (611 kW / 831 PS) and 960 Nm (708 lb-ft) of torque to the rear-wheels via a seven-speed automatic or manual transmission. The use of carbon fiber in the chassis and body work has given the Spanish super car a kerb weight of just 1350 kg (2976 lbs). To put this into perspective, the GTA Spano is 175 kg lighter and 90 ponies more powerful than the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta that has stole the show in Geneva. It accelerates from standstill to 100 kph (62 mph) in just 2.9 seconds and can reach a top speed of 350 kph (217 mph). These are the kind of performance figures that automatically gain a car entry into the super car category. Each of the 99 units that are due to be produced will be made to order, but pricing is yet to be announced.
