James Cameron Diving To Deepest Part Of The Ocean

James Cameron has revealed that he is close to diving seven miles down to the deepest part of the ocean after doing a five mile test drive off the coast of Papa New Guinea, to gather footage for a 3D documentary. The Avatar director, who used submersibles to film the wreckage of the RMS Titanic, has successfully completed a five mile test-drive off the coast of Papa New Guinea before he attempts to go down to the Mariana Trench area in the western Pacific. He is quoted by BBC News as saying: ''The deep trenches are the last unexplored frontier on our planet, with scientific riches enough to fill 100 years of exploration.'' The 57-year-old director is planning to spend six hours at the bottom of the trench and use a special camera to gather footage for a 3D documentary. He added: ''Our goal is to build a scientific legacy for generations to come. ''It's also to inspire people across the globe to celebrate exploration and to explore with us online and through the media we produce.'' James will travel down in a submarine called the Deepsea Challenge, which only fits one person.
