French Comics Artist Jean Giraud - Moebius - Dies At 73

For any one interested in the world of comic books or art in general, the passing of Jean Giraud today at the age of 73 is indeed sad news. Moebius was one of the finest and most prolific bande desineé authors in Europe, with landmark works such as the Silver Surfer collaboration with Marvel, El Incal, Arzach, XIII, L'Incal  and the excellent western Blueberry (just to name a few). He also contributed his brilliant mind to some of the most groundbreaking movies in the last few decades, including Alien, Tron, The Abyss, The Fifth Element, Star Wars: Episode V and countless other films. Despite the fact that he never achieved as much success in the US, he's considered a legend in the eyes of many overseas for his ability to craft fantastic worlds that sparked imaginations and filled people with wonder. His legacy is wide, and as time always proves with talented and gifted people, his work will survive him as a testament of the creativity and beauty the human spirit can achieve.
