Previously Unseen Joe Strummer Photos To Feature In 10th Anniversary Calendar

A number of previously unseen photos of Clash frontman Joe Strummer will be made into a 2012 calendar by the Strummerviller charity & collective, reports NME. Next year will mark 10 years since the death of Strummer, who passed away aged 50 in 2002 after falling victim to an undiagnosed congenital heart defect. The charity responsible for the commemorative calendar said of the project: The calendar will also feature quotes from Strummer along with handwritten notes. "We are very excited to present this calendar as our first offering for Joe's 10th anniversary next year. It's interesting how even ten years after Joe's passing some of his words of wisdom are more pertinent now than ever before and we hope that this is reflected in the calendar and that it will be celebrated by Strummer fans around the world." Strummerville is a registered charity that gives support to aspiring musicians and help to projects that help change the world through music. All proceeds from will go to the Joe Strummer New Music Foundation. For more information visit Strummerville.com. Set up by the friends and family of Joe Strummer in the year after his death, the charity seeks to reflect Joe's unique contribution to the music world by offering support, resources and performance opportunities to artists who would not normally have access to them.
