Lexus LF-CC Concept Headed For Production
Lexus is set to start development on a production version of the LF-CC hybrid coupe concept, according to reports. Autocar has revealed that Lexus has assigned a senior engineer to the project, and that work will begin in early 2013. The LF-CC concept was first unveiled at the 2012 Paris Auto Show, and
is expected to form the basis of a replacement for the IS range. The concept car used a hybrid drivetrain, and the production version
will also be a hybrid--continuing the firm's commitment to the
technology. Autocar reports that the production car will use a version
of the GS hybrid drivetrain, based on a 3.5-liter V-6, but the concept
car uses a newly-developed 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine. Lexus hints
the new engine will be introduced into its range in the near future. The
luxury car maker promises a mix of strong performance and high fuel efficiency. It will also, like the current IS, be rear-wheel driven, and is sure
to offer sporty handling to match its looks. It's likely to be based on a
re-engineered version of the current GS platform. Styling is unlikely to change too much from the concept car, though
some of the concept's wilder attributes will likely be toned down for
production. The LF-CC will fill a gap left by the old Lexus SC
coupe-convertible. (greencarreports)

Chasing Classic Villains
The Carabinieri are Italy's national military police force and
have played an instrumental part in Italy's history, including helping
bring down Mussolini during World War II. What makes them even more
badass is that not only do they get to wear chic uniforms and drive Alfa
Romeos, but in the '60s and '70s they were the protagonists in many
real-life car chases pursuing notorious criminals like Vallanzasca and
Red Brigade terrorists. Watch two veteran Carabinieri wax nostalgic about these hot pursuits in their Alfa Romeo Giulias. (Petrolicious)

2013 Opel Astra OPC Cup
The last time Opel
achieved success in motorsports was 2003 when the Astra V8 Coupe
conquered the 24 Hours of Nurburgring race. Since then, Opel has kept a
low key profile in racing. All that, though, is set to change when the
new Astra OPC returns to racing. The
new Opel Astra OPC has been given some racing juices, and thus, the
Astra OPC Cup was born. The future race car is set to compete in the
2013 season and has been built to fully comply with "VLN Endurance
Championship" standards, considered as the most popular grass roots
racing series in Europe. In addition to competing in
its own brand trophy class as part of the VLN Endurance Championship
series, the Astra OPC Cup will also ply its wares in the race that its
predecessor once conquered: the 24 Hours of Nurburgring. Full-spec
details weren’t announced surrounding the Astra OPC Cup, but according
to Dr. Thomas Sedran, Opel’s Deputy CEO, the race car being built plays
into Opel’s new direction as a company. These new motorsports activities
play an important role in the strategic re-alignment of the company;
they are a fundamental element of our brand profile," Dr. Sedran said. (topspeed)

Honda CBR 1000F Custom
You’d be hard pressed to guess that this bike started life as a 1987 Honda Hurricane,
known less evocatively as the CBR 1000F. This amazing machine took Ian
McElroy two years to build, and if you spot a little of the KTM RC8 in
there, you’re right—the Austrian superbike was one of the inspirations
for McElroy’s stealth-fighter angles and curves. The fenders are
hand-crafted from aluminum, and a new subframe reshaped the back end.
The bodywork is formed from sheets of aluminum meticulously welded
together, and the original gauges have been replaced by a Veypor
setup that can also record G-force, 0-60, quarter mile time and lap
time as well as speed and RPM. With 130 bhp on tap, the DOHC, 998cc, 16
valve four is not short of go—but K&N filters
and a custom-made, less restrictive exhaust system have given the motor
an extra kick. And there’s nothing stealth about the sound: McElroy’s
Honda reportedly sounds like a drag bike at the strip. (bikeexif)

Petrolicious:"Lamborghini Espada"
Lamborghini has had a long history of naming its cars to reflect the
power and tradition of bullfighting. In the hands of driver and owner CJ
Bonura, it's easy to understand how the sounds and sights of this
particular Lamborghini inspired the name "Espada", Spanish for sword,
referring to the one used by matadors to defeat the bull at the end of
the fight. (Petrolicious)

Warehouse Converted Bachelor Pad With Indoor Basketball Court
Who says you can’t own a great apartment on the west coast? While
it’s true that New York City may be the first place people think of when
luxury apartment conversations come up, this SoMa San Francisco based
loft proves that the Bay Area is home to some incredible apartments. This stunning space was developed by the team at Martin Building Company
in collaboration with the former owner. The 5,500 square foot apartment
features multiple levels, and includes 1,100 square feet of outdoor
space. The loft was “converted from an original warehouse structure,
the property’s radiant heated hardwood floors were salvaged from a Los
Angeles airplane hangar and pay homage to that original hangar use
reflected by nearly 30 foot exposed timber and white-washed ceilings.”
This residence ended up selling back in 2011 for a cool $3.32 million. (inthralld)
