Harrison Ford May Return For "Star Wars Episode 7"

Harrison Ford is reportedly 'open' to reprising his role as Han Solo in the new Star Wars film as Matthew Vaughn is said to be interested in directing Episode 7. Entertainment Weekly reports that Ford along with co-stars Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher are 'open' to starring in the forthcoming film, which is due out in 2015. A source said: 'Harrison is open to the idea of doing the movie and he's upbeat about it, all three of them are.' The 70-year-old actor has previously said that he thought his character should have been killed off. He told ABC: 'I thought he should have died in the last one to give it some bottom… George [Lucas] didn’t think there was any future in dead Han toys.' Hamill recently revealed that he and Fisher were told about plans for a Star Wars sequel back in August. Disney announced last week that they had snapped up Lucasfilm for £2.5 billion and were planning to release three new Star Wars films. Meanwhile, Kick-Ass director Matthew Vaughn is rumoured to be interested in directing Star Wars Episode 7. The film-maker recently dropped out of directing X-Men: Days of Future Past. According to Collider, he left the project because he's currently in talks with Lucasfilm to direct the new Star Wars film. Lucas, who will act as creative consultant on the forthcoming movies, said he wouldn't be involved in choosing a director. He said last week: 'I've turned it over to a wonderful producer, Kathy Kennedy, and I've known her for years. 'She's [Kennedy] more than capable of taking it and making it better than I did.'
