MV Agusta has revealed the new 2013 Brutale 800 street-naked bike
ahead of its unveiling at the EICMA. The Brutale 800 is now comfortably placed between the 2013 Brutale 1090 lineup and the Brutale 675. The
Brutale 800 is powered by a 798cc engine, the same one that will be
found in new model Rivale, that debuted as a rendering couple of days
back. The 798cc engine is derived from the three cylinder 675 engine,
whose performance has been bumped up to produce more horsepower. The new three-cylinder in-line engine with counter-rotating
crankshaft has a stroke of 54.3 mm (45.9mm in the 675 form) and delivers
a power output of 125 hp from 11,600 rpm, which redlines at 13,000 rpm.
The peak torque produced is 81 Nm at 8600 rpm. MV Agusta puts the dry
weight of the Brutale 800 at 167 kg (368 lbs) and claims a top speed of
153 mph. Both in terms of design and build the Brutale 800 is similar to the
Brutale 675 in many ways. The 800 is built upon the steel trellis frame
with aluminium plates, like the 600. The Motor & Vehicle Integrated
Control System (MVICS) from the 675 can be found here, with its eight
level traction control system and ride by wire technology. Moreover, the
brakes controlling the 675 are the same ones stopping the 800. Two 320
diameter discs and 32 mm Brembo callipers on the front and a 220 mm disc
with 34 mm Brembo callipers at the rear. But what sets the Brutale 800 apart from the 600 is the new fully
adjustable suspension system. Compression, rebound and spring preload on
the Marzocchi upside-down fork and Sachs monoshock are adjustable.
While the same units are found on the 600, they cannot be user adjusted. 2013 Brutale 800 will be available in Ruby Metallic Red/Silver,
White/Mamba Red, Matt metallic Grey/Pearl White and White/Blue Pearl
“ITALIA” colour combinations. Price begins at €9,990 for the standard
model, with the Electronically Assisted Shift (EAS) model costing
€10,390. The ‘Italia’ model comes with EAS as standard and costs
€10,990.
