Renault have officially revealed the Alpine A110-50. It’s a concept
car, due to be presented over the weekend at the 2012 Monaco Grand Prix. Built to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the original model, the concept is based on the Mégane Trophy and was created by Renault Sport Technologies. Heavily influenced by the DeZir concept,
the A110-50 has a carbon fiber body with a roof-mounted air intake and
half-domed LED lights that mimic the original car's fog lights. There's
also scissor doors, a prominent rear wing and 21-inch alloy wheels with
Michelin tires. The cabin features a minimalist design with Alcantara sport seats, a flat-bottomed steering wheel and a roll cage. Motivation is provided by a 3.5-liter V6 engine
that produces 400 PS (294 kW / 394 hp) and 422 Nm (311 lb-ft) of
torque. It is connected to a six-speed sequential transmission which
sends power to the rear wheels via a limited-slip differential. Other highlights include Sachs adjustable dampers, high-performance
brakes (that measure 356mm front / 330mm rear) and a 47.8/52.2 weight
distribution. Interestingly, the car also has integral pneumatic jacks
for easy servicing and repair.
