Sony's 3-D TV Eliminates The Splitscreen

Sony has started its E3 2011 press conference with a bang, and that is not even considering the Uncharted 3 and Resistance 3 trailers shown at the start of the presentation. Jack Tretton, the host of the conference and Sony exec, just announced that Resistance 3 will be one of the first games to implement 3D technology in a way that will eliminate split screen play. No more delegating players to certain corners of the screen, a staple of multiplayer between friends in the same room since gaming seemingly started, but now with use of 3D glasses the screen will appear in full size for 2 different players on the same TV.  The TV that is being branded as the poster child of this new feature is a new, 24" monitor built especially for PS3 in HD and 3D. In addition, Sony announced that a new pair 3D glasses with active shutter technology will be coming as well. All will be available along with Resistance 3 in a bundle available this fall for $499.
