Almost 14 years after going off the air, Beavis and Butt-head is returning to television, airing new episodes starting Oct. 27. The crudely-drawn cartoon was a staple of MTV’s ’90s lineup and even spawned a feature film, Beavis and Butt-head Do America. Creator Mike Judge, whose other works include King of the Hill and Office Space, voiced most characters on the show, including the two main characters. The original run of the show produced 200 episodes, ending in 1997. In addition to the two boys’ misadventures in the fictional town of Highland, Texas, the show also featured the two sitting on their couch and riffing on music videos. The new episodes of Beavis and Butt-head will follow a similar formula but the mockery gets extended to viral videos, movies and television shows like Jersey Shore and 16 & Pregnant, according to an MTV announcement. Judge recently said he stopped working on Beavis and Butt-head in 1997 because he “was getting a little burnt out.” However, after the cancellation of King of the Hill, he decided to take an MTV offer to restart the show. “I felt like TV was getting too smart,” he said.
