Rob Zombie announced over the weekend that Academy Award-nominated actor Bruce Dern will star in the shock rocker’s latest movie venture, The Lords of Salem. Zombie both wrote and will be directing the movie, based on the idea of a 300-year-old coven of witches visiting Salem, Massachusetts, the sight of the infamous witch trials in the 17th century. The film also shares its name with a song from Zombie’s 2006 album, Educated Horses.
Dern has appeared in a host of memorable roles in movies throughout his career, including in The Cowboys, The Great Gatsby, and Coming Home, for which he received his Oscar nod. The Lords of Salem is slated for release sometime next year.
