Watch The First Trailer For Alejandro Jodorowsky's New Film "The Dance Of Reality"

Back in April, it was reported that director Alejandro Jodorowsky would be debuting his first proper feature in over 20 years at Cannes this week. Best known for his surreal and violent masterpieces, The Holy Mountain, El Topo, and Santa Sangre all established the 84-year-old director as an iconic avant-garde filmmaker. And with his new film, titled La Danza de la Realidad or The Dance of Reality, Jodorowsky explores his childhood, with an autobiographical look at his youth in Chile. Adapted from his own memoir, Jodorowsky's film will deal with the director's struggle to come to terms with his abusive upbringing. In speaking with the Miami Times back in January, Jodorowsky's son Brontis—who co-stars in the film—said that, "My father had a very severe education from his father...and he remembers his childhood as a very sad and violent thing," going on to say that, "The main character is his father, Alejandro's father, and he asked me to play his father…There is a kid who plays Alejandro as a kid and a Chilean opera singer plays Sara [the mother], and Alejandro appears in the film as himself…It's very different from the other films that he made." So now, with Cannes underway, a trailer from French distibutor Pache has finally be released. Take a look for yourself below. (blackbookmag)
