Arno Overweel from Culemborg in the Netherlands, founder of Rno
Cycles, tried to offer a new approach on customizing the lovely Moto
Guzzi and named this experiment “Opal”. The commission came from
Goparts, a motorcycle accessory company from the Netherlands. The bike’s design is modified extensively through the raised
waistline to emphasize the V50 twin motor and the balance is also
improved through a revised frame. The suspension received new forks
along with a custom swing arm that is hooked to an HK Suspension
monoshock. The gearbox was changed to a kick start Nato type and the original
electric starter was removed. The carburation is 28mm Dell’Orto with
twin K&N filters and the exhaust is custom made from stainless
steel. The original wheels were kept but only after going through a
refurbish and were adorned with Michelin Pilot Sporty tires. The
painting was made by Ben Oud’s Kustom Paints to give the motorcycle its
final touch and complete the wonderful design. (brosome)
