Caterham
launched today the new Superlight R600, which they say it's the most
extreme race-ready Seven they have ever built. The Caterham Superlight
R600, which is the first Seven to come with forced induction technology,
is powered by a 2.0-litre Ford Duratec supercharged engine that puts
out 275 bhp and 200 lb-ft of torque. This is 13% more torque the current
road-going R500. Caterham's Superlight R600 comes with
rear-wheel-drive, obviously, and a six-speed sequential transmission.
Caterham says that the new Superlight R600, thanks to its powertrain, is
more aggressive than its predecessor, but at the same time
it's
also "superbly drivable". The equipment list of the Caterham Superlight
R600 includes a Titan limited-slip differential and Avon radial slicks
or wets. The Caterham Superlight R600's price is set at £44,995 ($73,800 ). Even
though this might seem like much, Caterham is expecting a 16-car grid
for the debut of the 2013 championship season, with 30 cars expected for
the 2014 season. Current R300 owners can upgrade their vehicle to R600
specifications. Caterham is going to announce the price of this upgrade
at a later date. (zercustoms)
