"Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes" Gets First Gameplay Trailer
Konami released a full 10 minute gameplay video of Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes
from PAX Prime on Saturday while also confirming details on where it
fits in the series and who gamers will play as. First clue: old Snake is
back. Metal Gear Solid series director Hideo Kojima announced at
PAX that Ground Zeroes serves as a prologue to the yet to be released
Metal Gear Solid 5. While you are wrapping your head around that, the
video confirms that the old man version of Snake is back but can still
sneak around at a very high level. The gameplay video demonstrates how Konami's new Fox Engine can
seamlessly transition from cinematics to gameplay without being able to
tell the difference. Everything you see in this video is supposed to run
on both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 but Kojima said it could scale to next-gen consoles easily.
Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes is taking a more open-world
approach with the franchise and Snake will be able to call in
helicopters for assistance in moving around the large sandbox areas.
You'll not want to call them in at a noticeable location though as they
may get shot down. No word yet on when the game will be released (sometime in 2013), but it
will be for the current consoles—Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3—as well as
PC.
