After surviving a near brush with death, Gumpert is back and showing a new model at the Geneva Motor Show. Called the Explosion, the car is an entry-level two-seater with a
love it or hate it design penned by Martin Frank. The distinctive carbon
fiber and fiberglass reinforced plastic body rides on top of a tubular
frame chassis which should ensure the model is relatively lightweight. Power is provided by a 2.0-liter engine that develops 420 bhp (313
kW) and 520 Nm (383 lb-ft) of torque. It can be connected to a six-speed
manual or a six-speed paddle shift transmission which is paired to an
all-wheel drive system. This setup enables the car to accelerate from
0-100 km/h in approximately three seconds. The Explosion will go into production later this year and pricing starts at €105,000 ($144,510 / £86,475). (worldcarfans)
