PlayStation 4 Pricing Rumours Emerge

Japanese press has run reports which suggest that the PlayStation 4 may be available starting 20th February. It is also being reported that it will be using Gaikai cloud technology. Sony bought Gaikai for $380 million only last year. It is also being reported by a Japanese daily newspaper that PlayStation 4 will carry a price tag of 40,000 yen which is roughly equal to $428. These are the first reports about the pricing structure of PlayStation 4 and indicate that Sony might have learnt some lessons from the cold launch response of PlayStation 3. It also indicates that Sony is not pricing PlayStation 4 too aggressively against Wii U. PlayStation 3 was priced at around $599 at its launch. If PS4 is launched in Japan with a price of 40,000 yen, it means that the price in the US will be around $400. The reports in the Japanese press further reinforce the news that the European launch of PS4 will shift forward to 2014. It is also being reported that PS4 controller will be coming with a touch pad and it will be of the shape of Dual Shock 3. (technewsplus)
