The Lotus Evija Is A 2000-hp Electric Hypercar

Lotus has revealed their first all-electric model and it'll lay claim to being the first purely electric British hypercar when it hits the market in 2020. With its crisp lines inspired by aeronautics and rock formations, the muscular curves and aerodynamics create a powerful look to perfectly complement its equally powerful engine. The electric powertrain will produce almost 2,000 hp making the Evija the most powerful series production road car on the market. 0-60 will happen in under three seconds and it will reach a top speed of over 200 mph. Developed in collaboration with Williams Advanced Engineering, the car will have 800kW charging capability, which would allow its battery to be fully charged in just nine minutes. Though chargers capable of producing that kind of power are not yet available, the Evija can plug into a 350kW unit for a charge time of 18 minutes to 100% and when at full capacity, the Evija can travel for up to 250 miles. Production for the Lotus Evija will begin in 2020 and will be limited to 130 examples. Deposits of £250,000 (approx. $310,207) are currently being accepted to guarantee a production slot. (acquire)
