British specialty marque Trident has announced the Iceni is now available on order at a starting price of 96,000 GBP. News about Trident Performance Vehicles emerged back in 2008 when the small-volume automaker introduced the two-seater Iceni sportscar. It was followed four years later by the Grand Tourer
and now the company has announced global availability of the Iceni
range which consists of three models: Iceni, Iceni Magna (fastback) and
Iceni Venturer (estate). Under the hood is a V8 6.6-liter turbodiesel engine which according
to Trident allows the Iceni to be the "world's fastest diesel sports
car." The motor develops 395 bhp (294 kW) and 700 lb-ft (948 Nm) which
is enough for a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) run in 3.7 seconds and a top speed
of more than 190 mph (306 km/h). For those who need more, an optional performance upgrade pack raises
output to 430 bhp (320 kW) and 950 lb-ft (1,286 Nm) while the track
performance pack ups the ante to 660 bhp (492 kW) and 1,050 lb-ft (1,422
Nm). There's also a luxury upgrade pack bringing a two-tone Alcantara
& leather interior, heated mirrors, smoked roof and a Clarion
multimedia system with seven-inch display. Moreover, a premium upgrade
pack adds carbon fiber accents inside the cabin, electric seats and a
heated windscreen. The vehicle has a maximum range of 2,000 miles (3,218 km) on a single
tank of mineral diesel or bio-diesel (cooking oil, virgin rapeseed,
linseed, palm, soya bean oil, kerosene and paraffin). All three vehicles
benefit from Trident's proprietary torque multiplication technology
which they say has not only improved performance but also efficiency as
the car can return 57.3 mpg US (68.9 mpg UK or 4.1 liters / 100 km) in
the combined cycle. The base model kicks off at 96,000 GBP and there's a pre-launch
waiting list already while availability will be limited. A fully-loaded
Trident Iceni will set you back approximately 126,000 GBP. (worldcarfans)
