GWAR Seek Funding To Open Their Own "Gwar Bar" Restaurant

GWAR are seeking $50,000 (£30,000) to open their own "gourmet junk food" restaurant, NME reports. Watch a promotional video for the establishment below. The band have started their own fellow musicians Indiegogo page to seek funding for their so-called "GWAR-B-Q" and are offering those who invest different incentives depending on the sum they are willing to contribute. The band promise that their establishment will "change the dining experience in much the same way that GWAR changed the concert-going experience." $100 (£) will get investors a free entree upon entry to the restaurant while $750 (£448) gets fans a cooking lesson with band member BalSac. So far, 5 people have invested $1000 in order to "feel like Norm" and own a seat at the bar. At the time of writing, GWAR have $10,000 (£6,000) of their grand total. The restaurant plan follows another of the band's dreams, building a statue in tribute to late frontman Dave Brockie, aka Oderus Urungus, who died in March. Gwar plan to build the monument in Richmond, Virginia, where Brockie lived. Brockie's body was found at home by his roommates on March 23, prompting an outpouring of tributes from fellow musicians. Known for their outrageous costumes and prosthetics, thrash metal band Gwar released their 13th album in 2013 and mark their 30th anniversary this year. (ultimate-guitar)
