According to a posting on QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE'sofficial Facebook page, the band is "deep into makin' [its] new album" for a tentative early 2012 release. The message adds, "Locked away in the desert. & shit yeah. it. sounds. fuckin. killer." QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE mainman Josh Homme in May confirmed that the band's long-awaited sixth studio album will be completed by the end of the year. He didn't offer any clues as to the direction of the new album, but revealed that "We're at a weird moment where we really don't feel like we have anything to prove. We just want to play to the people that are into us and we want to play right at them."
