A relatively new and smaller Italian carmaker, Mazzanti Automobile, has released images of its new midengine supercar, the F&M Evantra. Known earlier in its development as Project Mugello, the Evantra (the name is said to represent the ancient Etruscan goddess of immortality) was designed by Zsolt Tarnok for Luca Mazzanti, who earlier partnered with Walter Faralli on F&M Auto. Mazzanti is using the F&M brand to launch the Evantra, which will be produced next year in an extremely limited run of five cars. Customers can selected from a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter flat-6 engine rated at 397 horsepower or a 595-hp twin-turbo variant. They are also offered a choice of body material — aluminum or carbon-fiber — over a lightweight steel chassis. With a curb weight as low as 2,465 pounds, the more potent model will jet from zero to 60 in less than 3.7 seconds, according to Mazzanti. No word yet on pricing.
