Alpine Unveils N36 LMP2 Car That Will Race In 24 Hours Of Le Mans

Alpine has recently pulled the wraps off its latest creation, the n°36 race car, which will compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, in the LMP2 class. The Alpine n°36 car has been designed to compete in the LMP2 class and it’s coming with an aerodynamic design, with a massive rear spoiler, a carbon fiber front splitter, a vertical fin and some orange and blue livery. The model will be driven by Pierre Ragues, by Nelson Panciatici and by Tristan Gommendy, with Paul-Loup Chatin as a reserve driver. “The unveiling of this splendid car marks the beginning of another phase. It will turn a wheel for the first time very soon, and its maiden race will follow shortly afterwards. The news of our endurance racing programme received a very positive welcome, not only from diehard Alpine enthusiasts, but also from the world of motor racing in general. We can hardly wait to see our brand’s colours in action!”, says Bernard Ollivier, the Alpine-Caterham CEO. The Alpine n°36 race car is powered by a 5.0 liter V8 engine, which is producing a total output of 500 HP (368 kW). The unit is made by Nissan and it’s mated to a six-speed X-Trac transmission, which is allowing the model to reach a top speed of 330 km/h (205 mph). The Alpine n°36 will be tested this month and it will debut at Silverstone, on the 13th of April. (inautonews)
