Samurai Cabinet By Sebastian Errazuriz

Some 400 individually movable keels construct a flexible skin on the Samurai Cabinet by Sebastian Errazuriz. Details: The black lacquered maple keels let the contents of the Samurai Cabinet to be accessed from any angle. The tiny spear shaped pieces allow the shape of the cabinet to shift and adjust depending on the positions in which they are arranged. Cleverly counterbalanced on a pivoting point, every spear instantly flips open by simply sliding a finger down its side. “This modest technical detail evidences [my] passion for completely creating unique suggestions from the conception to the last screw or joinery.” says Errazuriz. “The cabinet’s sculptural presence reminds us of an armor spiked up ready to protect the worthwhile belongings it’;s owner may determine to location in its interior.”
