It's official: Need for Speed is going to be a movie, and it's been "fast-tracked" to arrive in theaters in 2014. Electronic Arts has joined hands with DreamWorks Studios
for the production of the movie, which as per schedule will commence at
the beginning of next year. While the movie will be entirely based on
the game series, it will not concentrate on the storyline of a
particular game. While the movie’s direction will be taken care of
by Scott Waught (of Act Of Valor fame), the screenplay will be
undertaken by brothers George (of She’s Out Of My League fame) and John
Gatins (of Real Steel fame). Meanwhile, DreamWorks co-founder Steven
Spielberg is all excited about working on the movie based on the NFS series.
