C3H5N3O9 is both the molecular formula for nitroglycerine and a
horological experiment. The brainchild of Felix Baumgartner and
Maximilian Büsser, their latest chronograph comes in the form of the
Experiment ZR012. The watch was inspired by the Wankel engine, which
features orbital Releaux polygon rotors rather than the reciprocating
pistons that power the majority of our cars and machines today. Other
amenities include a 60 component titanium case with zirconium lugs, 42
jewel movement and water-resistance up to 30 meters. The C3H5N3O9
Experiment ZR012 Watch will retail at select outlets for $114,000 USD.
