Infiniti Reveals 2029 Synaptiq Concept For L.A Auto Show

Infiniti has unveiled their entry for the Los Angeles Auto Show Design Challenge. Since this year's theme focuses on how technology will transform the human-to-machine interface (HMI), Infiniti Design San Diego created a futuristic SYPNATIQ concept which is billed as "The Future Vision of Infiniti HMI." As part of their proposal, the company envisions the year is 2029 and they're sponsors of an extreme A.R.C. - Air, Rally, Circuit - triathlon. The futuristic race requires teams to use a "universal fuselage pod" that can be integrated into three different types of vehicles for each stage of the race. As Infiniti explains, the "first stretch of the race is a Formula-1 grand prix course from L.A. to Las Vegas. The second portion is a desert race which requires an off-road buggy to the Grand Canyon. The final third leg of the race is a radical gymkhana style jet race through virtual pylons back to Los Angeles." Now that we've covered the basics of the race, we can return our focus to the SYPNATIQ interface which is described as a "holistic system which takes our current understanding of augmented reality, 3D hologram and wearable technology to the next level." Speaking of the latter, the SYPNATIQ system takes wearable technology far beyond the smart watches and glasses we know today. This is because the system uses a SYNAPTIQ S.U.I.T. (Sym- biotic User Interface Technology) which suspends the driver / pilot into the driving position and connects to their brain via a spinal lock attachment. Infiniti says this connection "both enhances and gives tactile resistance to the driver to simulate a physical interaction with the machine." The SYPNATIQ system also boasts a floating holographic projection which is known as the Infiniti User Interface (IUI). The company says the IUI is extremely flexible and can adapt to the driver's needs and the situation at hand. Infiniti goes on to say the adaptable display would allow the driver / pilot to seamlessly transmission between the different vehicle types without having to deal with different instrumentation in each model. Bienville Legacy Superbike By JT Nesbitt Comes To Life

JT Nesbitt is an artist when it comes to shaping metal and composites into custom vehicles. He really built a name for himself with his creations at Confederate Motorcycles, like the Wraith, but a few years ago he set out on his own to found Bienville Studios. The company's goal was to branch out beyond cycles into crafting cars too, but to finance the project Nesbitt had a Kickstarter to build a bike called the Legacy. The final result has definitely proved this guy's skill. The look of the Legacy takes Nesbitt's work from Confederate and kicks it up even further. The bike has a very industrial design with a girder-style front end and lots of exposed fittings. However, it's clear that each piece is well thought-out and is there for a specific reason. According to Asphalt and Rubber, portions of the damping are done with mountain bike components, and chassis adjustments are made with just an allen wrench. The rugged look extends to the gauges that are in a style that would be appropriate for something steam-powered at the turn of the 19th century, and at the heart of this sensational cycle is a beautiful V4 with its exhaust pipes coming out from each side. Bienville is making just three units of the Legacy, and each one is tailored to its owner. (autoblog)
