Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo Revealed

Mercedes-Benz has fully revealed the Vision Gran Turismo virtual concept destined for the latest installment in the Gran Turismo franchise out on December 6. The thrilling supercar won't be seen on public roads but at least Mercedes-Benz built a 1:1 scale model for the opening of their Research & Development Center in Sunnyvale, California. The front-engined vehicle is envisioned with a rear-wheel drive arrangement and gullwing doors. Power comes from an AMG V8 engine delivering 577 bhp (430 kW) and 590 lb-ft (799 Nm) of torque wrapped around in a body that weighs 3,053 lbs (1,384 kg). Stopping power comes from AMG's high-performance ceramic composite brakes while at the back there are no less than eight tailpipes generating a "sonorous exhaust note that authentically celebrates the V8's love of high engine speeds." Photos of the cabin were not provided but Mercedes-Benz says the Vision Gran Turismo comes with an F1-inspired cockpit with red integral sport seats that blend into the black flooring of the footwell to create a protective shell. The center display floats above the racing steering wheel providing all the necessary data while operation is handled via the rocker switches placed in the dashboard's center as well as in an overhead console. The Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo will be available as downloadable content exclusively for GranTurismo 6 which will come out on December 6 on the PlayStation 3. (WorldCarFans)
