Volkswagen Design Vision GTI

Volkswagen has officially unveiled the Design Vision GTI concept at Wörthersee 2013. Looking sleek and sinister, the concept is based on the Golf GTI but is distinguished by a new front fascia with LED headlights, a front splitter and prominent side blades. The car also has a new rear bumper, a "detached" C-pillar and 20-inch alloy wheels. The driver-oriented cockpit has a carbon fiber dashboard which is luxuriously trimmed in alcantara upholstery. We can also see a digital instrument cluster, a sport steering wheel and Porsche Cup-inspired door handles. The concept also has dedicated switchgear to turn off the Electronic Stability Control system and activate the fire suppression system. Lastly, the rear seat has been replaced by an X-shaped cross member that increases stiffness. Power is provided by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine that produces 503 HP (370 kW) and 560 Nm (413 lb-ft) of torque. It is connected to a DSG transmission and an all-wheel drive system which enables the concept to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 186 mph (300 km/h). (worldcarfans)
