Petrolicious: "Time Machine"

In 1939, Vensio Pagani's father packed his family up and fled war-torn Italy for France, leaving everything behind in the process. The family home, friends and even his father's prize Peugeot convertible were all abandoned in the hope that the Paganis could find a safer future for themselves. Vensio cultivated a passion for restoring period vehicles over the intervening 70 years, and happened to spot a vintage Peugeot just like his father's at a swap meet. The car was in pieces and badly in need of restoration, but Vensio drug it back to his shop and began rebuilding the car from the ground up. It wasn't until he cleaned off the frame that he noticed something special. After scratching back the rust, grime and paint of seven decades, Vensio discovered that the serial number of the car he purchased matched his father's – amazingly, he had found his dad's long-lost Peugeot. You can take a look at it below. (autoblog, petrolicious)

Meet The 701-Hp Mazzanti Evantra

Mazzanti Automobili has released new images of the Evantra V8, a limited series mid-engine supercar which is expected to debut at Top Marques Monaco Show in 2013. The Evantra was first announced last year by Italian company F&M by Mazzanti Automobili – which has subsequently changed its name to just Mazzanti Automobili. The Evantra – whose name indicates the goddess of immortality in ancient Etruscan language, was designed by Luca Mazzanti and Zsolt Tarnok, the Hungarian designer who also created the F&M Vulca. The car is powered by a mid-mounted 7.0 liter V8 engine delivering 701 hp and 848 Nm, coupled with a robotized six-speed transmission. The body is primarily made from carbon fiber and its aerodynamics was studied in partnership with Ysim, a company that works as a consultant for Formula One teams. The main performances are a 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 350 km/h. The Evantra is expected to be produced in five units per year, with extensive customization possibilities. The first car is currently under development and is expected to make its debut at Top Marques Monaco show (18-21 April 2013). (carbodydesign)

Quentin Tarantino Says "Killer Crow" Could Finish His Historical Trilogy

With his latest, slave-turned-bounty hunter vengeance quest Django Unchained, in American cinemas over Christmas, Quentin Tarantino has naturally been busy on the promotional trail. Talking about the film, he’s revealed that his previous release, Inglourious Basterds, may spawn what could become the third part of a trilogy featuring some unused script material. Tarantino has talked in the past about having lots of material leftover when he converted the long-gestating passion project between a briefly planned miniseries version into the cinematic incarnation that finally reached cinemas. Now he says he’s considering a third revisionist history film to stand alongside Django and the Basterds, this time spotlighting characters originally intended to feature in stories running alongside those of Brad Pitt’s Lt. Aldo Raines and his squad. "My original idea for Inglourious Basterds way back when was that this would be a huge story that included the smaller story that you saw in the film, but also followed a bunch of black troops, and they had been f***ed over by the American military and kind of go apeshit," Tarantino tells The Root. "They basically – the way Lt. Aldo Raines and the Basterds are having an 'Apache resistance' – the black troops go on an Apache warpath and kill a bunch of white soldiers and white officers on a military base and are just making a warpath to Switzerland." Tentatively titled Killer Crow (though that may well change), the material as it stands would currently make for about half a film, and, if it happens would be set in 1944 following the Allied landings. Naturally, QT has a lot of projects on the go, and this one might have to wait its turn if it goes ahead at all. (empireonline)

Production Version Porsche 918 Spyder Revealed In Chinese Patents

The Porsche 918 Spyder is inching closer to production as the company has reportedly filed a trademark for the roadster's design in China. Looking instantly recognizable, the images suggest the production model will have minor modifications over the prototypes that are currently undergoing test. While there isn't much to see, the car will reportedly adopt hidden door handles like the concept. We can also see green brake calipers which were previously hinted at in a leaked brochure. The 918 Spyder is expected to feature a 4.6-liter V8 engine that develops 580 hp (432 kW) and more than 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque. The engine will be backed up by two electric motors which are rumored to have a combined output of 245 hp (183 kW). This could enable the model to develop approximately 795 hp (593 kW) and 575 lb-ft (780 Nm) of torque. The production version will debut in September 2013 and will be priced at about $1 million. Seiko Prospex Landmaster Miura Everest 2013

Japanese watchmaker Seiko has introduced a new limited edition model Prospex Landmaster Miura Everest 2013 (Ref. SBDB007J) with a titanium case, which is covered with a black coating. The case diameter is 46 mm, water resistant - 100 meters. The matt black dial has hour-markers with luminescent coating. Next to these labels are also red Arabic numerals that are combined with the design of the black dial. At the 4 o’clock position is a power reserve indicator, while at the 3 o’clock position - a large date aperture. An anti-reflective sapphire crystal protects the dial. The crown is placed at the 12 o’clock position. The Japanese manufacturing caliber Spring Drive 5R66 on the 30 jewels, with a 72 - hour power reserve, equips the new Prospex Landmaster Miura Everest 2013 watch. Production Version Gumpert Tornante Leaks On The Internet

The German sports car maker Gumpert has recently emerged from a provisional insolvency with new orders. Now, freshly filed trademark design drawings of the Gumpert Tornante production version have surfaced. Looking slightly different than the Touring concept shown last year in Geneva, the production model gets a louvred rear window, horizontal exhaust pipes and Lamborghini Gallardo-inspired taillights. In addition, the front lip spoiler seems slightly updated and the headlight design has also been modestly revised. The concept came with a bi-turbo V8 engine producing 690 hp (515 kW) which was enough for a top speed of 186 mph (300 km/h). Power was transmitted to wheels via a 6-speed semi-automatic gearbox controlled by paddle shifters. For wheels, it had 19-inch alloys up front and 20-inch rims at the back, wrapped around in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. (worldcarfans)

The narrow part of the tie, which never served a purpose ever before, is now functional, with a nozzle at the end of it, allowing users to drink directly from it. The FlaskTie retails for $30, and will certainly derail productivity. (elitedaily)

Vin Diesel To Star In 'Kojak' Movie By 'Skyfall' Writers

Universal Pictures is getting serious about Kojak, hiring the scribe team of Neal Purvis & Robert Wade to script a movie around the tough-talking, smooth scalped cop played by Telly Savalas on the CBS series. Vin Diesel, who just wrapped Fast And Furious 6 for the studio, will play the chrome-domed cop in the film, which he’s producing with Samantha Vincent for their Universal-based One Race Films. The series, which ran from 1973-78, was a popular procedural with an iconic cop, and the scribes will re-imagine and contemporize it for the big screen. Purvis & Wade are coming off  Skyfall, which is nearing $1 billion in worldwide box office, and they wrote the previous four Bond films, including Casino Royale, Quantum Of Solace and Die Another Day. CAA and Brillstein rep Diesel, while UTA reps the scribes. Universal co-president of production Jeffrey Kirschenbaum and production veep Kristin Lowe are overseeing it for the studio. (deadline)

Ugur Sahin Returns With Rolls Royce Jonckheere Aerodynamic Coupe II Design

Ugur Sahin Design is a Dutch company founded in 2007 which specialises in bespoke coachbuilt automobiles. Their fully-functional Soleil ANADI prototype, which was a development of their Chevrolet Corvette Z03 concept, was unveiled at the Top Marques Monaco show last year, so they have proven experience in transforming slick digital models into vehicles you can actually get in and drive. The absurdly long-named Ugur Sahin Design Rolls Royce Jonckheere Aerodynamic Coupe II is a homage to the original Rolls Royce Jonckheere Aerodynamic Coupe I, which was built in Belgium by Henri Jonckheere and his son Joseph in 1935. Sadly the car was destroyed during WW2. Later Jonckheere went on to make a name for themselves across Europe as manufacturers of bodywork for both cars and buses. Today the company still exists as VDL Jonckheere. Ugur Sahin Design (USD) was tasked by VDL Jonckheere to design a car which was a modern reinterpretation of the original vehicle. According to USD the concept was put together with the crucial idea of respect for the 77 year old design. That meant the designers were careful to retain the essence of the original, while also making sure to balance it with modern touches which bring it into the 21st century. The proportions of the USD Rolls Royce Jonckheere Aerodynamic Coupe II are almost identical to that of the 1935 car. But to make sure it doesn’t look dated they’ve freshened it up with modern LED lighting, streamlined the bodywork, and minimized extraneous trim. Currently USD are in talks with potential investors interested in helping turn the Rolls Royce Jonckheere Aerodynamic Coupe II into reality as a one-off ultra-luxurious vehicle. (diseno-art)
