New Resident Evil 6 Trailer, Details And Release Date

Resident Evil 6 is Capcom's big release for this fall so it's no surprise that the game was a major focus of their Captivate event this year. In addition to sending out new assets and providing more details on the game, they also announced that the release date has changed. In RE6, a new C-Virus is spreading throughout the globe. This virus combines elements of the T-Virus, G-Virus, and Las Plagas from previous games to create a wide variety of monsters. Players can encounter "normal" shambling zombies or a more intelligent variety that wield melee weapons. A new breed of monsters called the J'avo can regenerate their bodies and even use firearms. There are three main protagonists: Leon S. Kennedy, Chris Redfield, and newcomer Jake Muller. These three campaigns, playable alone or with a friend, have intertwining stories. Each campaign has a very different feel, too. Chris' campaign is action-oriented and should appeal to RE5 fans. Leon, meanwhile, will experience a RE4-style adventure with a more traditional survival horror flair. Jake, meanwhile, expands RE in a whole new direction. He's actually the son of Albert Wesker and as a result has many enhanced physical abilities. He and his partner, Shelly Birkin, get up close and personal with their enemies. Expect a lot of melee combat in that campaign. Resident Evil 6 will launch worldwide on October 2nd on the PS3 and Xbox 360. Don't worry, it's still coming to the PC, too. The PC edition is currently undated, though. You can try RE6 before release by purchasing Capcom's Dragon's Dogma. The open-world fantasy RPG will come with a download token for the RE6 demo. The demo will arrive on the Xbox 360 on July 3rd and on the PS3 on September 4th.
