Hublot Introduces New Alloys for Watchmaking

Watchmaker Hublot has announced it has created a new gold alloy to use on its timepieces which it claims will be scratch resistant  A watch manufacturer has worked with a technology institute to develop what it claims is a scratch resistant gold alloy. Hublot watches, which is owned by LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA, have announced they are planning to introduce their first watch made from the material at a trade show next March, Bloomberg reported. However, there are also plans to take advantage of the development by creating a line of branded jewellery, with a selection of rings and cufflinks made from the new material also to be released. "There is a market for branded jewellery and therefore I believe, if we have a unique selling proposition in our gold, we should use it and go into jewellery," said chief executive officer of the company Jean-Claude Biver. For those who prefer more modern designs a new timepiece has been produced which features a keypad instead of a screen to show the time.
