The 2020 Corvette continues on the revolutionary path with the
just-released convertible version. Not only is this the first mid-engine
Corvette, it's also the first with a retractable hardtop the folding
canvas has gone the way of the front-engine layout. Chevrolet designed
the 2020 Corvette as a convertible, so the lack of a top gives up
nothing to the coupe in terms of chassis rigidity or handling. The
two-piece top can retract at up to 30 MPH in 16 seconds and has been
engineered to provide the same drag coefficient as the coupe when up.
Not only is performance between the two the same, so is storage. The top
takes no space away from the trunk, and with the front compartment,
makes the Corvette one of the most practical mid-engine supercars you
can get. Of course, the really important part is that the 495 horsepower
V8 and eight-speed dual-clutch transmission carry over unchanged,
making this arguably the best version of Chevy's two-seat sports car. (uncrate)
