James Glickenhaus Buys Ferrari Modulo Concept
James Glickenhaus has recently purchased the Ferrari 512S Modulo concept developed by Pininfarina. Many consider the 1980 four-door Ferrari Pinin concept
as being the most special car to wear the prancing horse logo but in
reality it's probably a concept that came out a decade before. It was
1970 when the 512S Modulo was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, a 512S
chassis and drivetrain wrapped around in a wedge-shaped body created by
Pininfarina. The one-off concept has now joined an already impressive collection
owned by James Glickenhaus who also has numerous other precious
automobiles, with the most popular ones being the P4/5 and P4/5 Competizione.
He managed to convince Pininfarina to sell the Modulo concept at a yet
undisclosed price tag and just like he did with the Dino Competizione,
the 512S Modulo concept will actually go through some modifications in
Europe to become roadworthy as Jim is known to drive all of his cars. The 900 kg concept is 4480mm long, 2040mm wide and 935mm tall while
the wheelbase stands at 2405mm. Power comes from a V12 5.0-liter engine
generating 550 bhp (410 kW) working together with a five-speed manual
gearbox. (worldcarfans)

Mini Superleggera Vision Concept Announced For Paris
Originally shown at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2014, the
brand new MINI Superleggera Vision Concept is getting ready to gain a
lot of attention as the company will be bringing it to the 2014th
edition of the Paris Motor Show. The model in question is actually seen
as a future rival for models such as the Mazda MX-5. The one-off vehicle
has an appealing exterior design which is combining the traditional
MINI elements along with lines which are taking it one step further into
the future. “In this car all unnecessary equipment or decoration is
sacrificed, as performance is gained through lightness and efficiency of
the bodywork and interior. The Italian touch is in the proportions and
the typical waistline”, said the head of design from Touring
Superleggera, Louis de Fabribeckers. Italian coachbuilder Touring Superleggera and MINI have joined forces
in order to create this appealing one-off vehicle and this will not be
the only time when we will get to see it as rumors are stating that it
will give birth to a production model in the future. More details on the
MINI Superleggera Vision Concept will probably be announced this week,
during the 2014 Paris Motor Show. (inautonews)

Approximately just 200 examples of the road-going Lancia 037 Group B rally car were ever created. The crew at Petrolicious recently met Philip Toledano who owns a bright
red Lancia 037. Powering the car is a 2.0-litre supercharged Abarth
engine designed to produce around 240 hp thanks to its new exhaust
system. While that figure is well down from what the rallying version
produced, this car is more about its theatre than it is outright speed
and power. (gtspirit)

Meet Strati, The First 3D Printed Car In The World
Crowdsourcing carmaker Local Motors may be best known for the V8-powered, dune-conquering Rally Fighter, but for its next project, the company has ventured completely to the other end of the spectrum. Like the automotive firm projected in March, Local Motors is currently building a 3D-printed electric car at the International Manufacturing Technology Show in Chicago. According to Top Gear, the electric car is called the Strati, and is full-sized, completely drivable, and is made up of just 40 parts. For comparison’s sake, the average car has something on the order of 30,000. This amazing feat of engineering was made possible by 3D-printing technology that takes just 44 hours to create the car. If everything goes well, Local Motors hopes to drive the Strati off the technology show’s floor. The automotive firm released a video recently detailing the vehicle’s assembly process.
