Koenigsegg Sets 6 New Speed Records!

Swedish supercar maker Koenigsegg, which builds the CCX and the new Agera, has announced that it has broken no fewer than six world land-speed records for a production car over the weekend. The records were broken with Koenigsegg’s latest beauty, the 1,115 horsepower Agera R, and were staged at the automaker’s proving ground in Ängelholm, Sweden. Note, the Guinness Book of World Records has yet to confirm the results, although all data was measured and collected by a third party with the officially accepted Racelogic VBox performance recorder.

The six records set were:

0-186 mph –14.53 sec
0-200 mph – 17.68 sec
186-0 mph – 6.66 sec
200-0 mph – 7.28 sec
0-186-0 mph – 21.19 sec
0-200-0 mph – 24.96 sec

While the records are testament to the Agera Rs phenomenal stability, acceleration and braking performance, Koenigsegg still hasn’t been able to match the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport’s insane 0-60 mph time of just 2.5 seconds and top speed of 268 mph. But the Koenigsegg Agera R is significantly faster in reaching 186 mph (300 kilometers per hour), which the Veyron Super Sport takes 16.7 seconds to attain. The Agera R boasts an output of 1,115 horsepower and 885 pound-feet of torque, almost matching the 1,200 horsepower figure of the Veyron Super Sport. It trumps the Bugatti in lightness, however, with a dry weight of just 2,932 pounds compared with the Veyron’s 4,052 pounds. The record-breaking supercar debuted at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show in March.
