Metal heavyweights Mastodon think their new album, The Hunter, is going to inspire some delinquency in the band’s listeners.
“Kids are going to get in trouble to this album,” guitarist-vocalist Brent Hinds told Rolling Stone. “They’re going to break speakers, pop springs on their beds and get drunk and nude in public.”
Those are high expectations for The Hunter, which is due later this year and was produced by Mike Elizondo (Dr. Dre, Gwen Stefani). The band said they plan to include about 14 songs on the finished release, which finds the Atlanta group in a lighter mood than 2009’s Crack the Skye (which revolved around the brain hemorrhage of one member and the suicide of another’s sister).
This album includes the song “Stargasm,” which has some interesting subject matter.
“It’s about [expletive] in space,” said drummer Brann Dailor, who initially came up with a space concept for the whole album. “Brent was like, ‘[Expletive] all that! Let’s just have fun.”
