KTM X-Bow GTX Race Car
The ultimate version of KTM's X-Bow, the GTX, is officially ready for
the track following its February 2020 debut. Starting with the X-Bow's
carbon fiber monocoque, the GTX encloses the driver in a fighter
jet-style clamshell with Makrolon windows and full carbon bodywork.
Inside is an FIA-homologated roll cage and Recaro kevlar racing seat
with Schroth harness and a custom steering wheel with integrated digital
display and controls. A new electronic steering rack replaces the
former hydraulic unit, saving weight and making for faster response,
with the GTX weighing in at 2,310 pounds. The biggest change happens
behind the driver's shoulders, with an Audi turbocharged five-cylinder
making 523 horsepower and driving the wheels through an
electronically-controlled sequential gearbox. 20 vehicles will be
produced in 2020, with KTM planning an exclusive racing series next
year. (uncrate)
