Hütte Hut Trailer

Designed by a husband & wife team known as Sprouting Sprocket, the Hutte Hut is a camper-trailer that’s basically a wood & canvas tent on wheels. The design brings plenty of natural light into the space & its lightweight construction makes it possible to tow without a giant truck. It is currently in the prototype stage but the couple envisions future versions to be built with a computer-controlled wood-cutting machine.

Other features include the Direct Adaptive Steering system and the new InTuition system, which promises a “fully customizable digital environment.” As for the cabin, a fixed glass roof ensures a sense of airiness, combined with thin sport seats with quilted leather bolsters, while a two-tone steering wheel spices up the driving environment. 2016 Acura NSX

After a rather lengthy development process, Acura has finally unveiled the production-ready NSX. The second generation Acura NSX draws most of its styling cues from previous concept but everything else has changed as Acura has decided to ditch the naturally aspirated V6 of the 2013 concept in favor of a longitudinally-mounted twin-turbocharged V6 developing “north of 550 horsepower.” The conventional engine works together with three electric motors sending all power to both axles to form what Acura calls the Sport Hybrid Super Handling All-Wheel Drive. Two of the electric motors are mounted up front for torque vectoring while the third direct-drive motor sits at the back between the combustion engine and the newly developed dual clutch nine-speed gearbox. The Acura NSX sits on 19-inch front & 20-inch rear wheels shod in 245/35Z R19 front and 295/30Z R20 rear tires and stops efficiently thanks to six-piston front & four-piston rear calipers coupled to carbon ceramic brake discs. Compared to the 2013 concept, the production-ready NSX has grown in length by 1.8 inches to 176 inches (4470mm); in width by 5.1 inches to 76.4 inches (1940mm); in height by 1.8 inches to 47.8 inches (1215mm) while the wheelbase is now 0.8 inches longer at 103.5 inches (2630mm). The production-ready Acura NSX comes with a dial-operated Integrated Dynamic System with Quiet, Sport, Sport+ and Track modes which depending on choice adjust the settings of the engine, electric motors, gearbox and chassis, as well as the engine sound level. There’s also a launch function which uses the combustion engine and all three electric motors for a “zero delay” launch performance. Full technical specifications and performance details are (still) not available at this point while pricing is estimated to kick off at $150,000. (worldcarfans)

New 2016 Ford GT Unveiled

At this year’s Detroit Auto Show, Ford presented an all-new version of their famed GT. The mid-engine coupe is set to go into production in 2016 and is powered by a new twin-turbocharged Ford EcoBoost V6 with more than 600hp. The launch year was chosen specifically to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Ford GTs placing first, second and third at the 1966 Le Mans, and is set to arrive with rear-wheel drive, a mid-mounted engine and an aerodynamic, two-door coupe body shell. Carbon fiber and aluminum are used throughout, helping keep the weight down and benefiting acceleration and handling. The design, meanwhile, pays homage to the original GT updated with modern design cues that give it a sharper and more aggressive look. The car sits atop 20-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport Cup 2 tires, which feature a unique compound and structure designed specifically for the Ford GT. Unfortunately, there’s no official word yet on performance specs. (highsnobiety)

Swami John Reis & The Blind Shake – "Sea Saw" (New Song)

Swami John Reis & The Blind Shake pay tribute to the classic surf and rock n roll instrumentals of the 1960’s and the more introspective music of the 1970’s surf films and update the genre for today’s more credible, discerning and extreme, modern surfer with their new album Modern Surf Classics out January 27 on Reis’ own Swami Records. 13 original, modern surf compositions create this tidal wave of booming tom toms, skronking saxophones and a chaotic surge of guitars. Recorded in January 2013 underneath Crystal Pier in the Pacific Beach part of San Diego, CA with the expertise of Ben Moore and an outfitted VW Van as a mobile recording unit. The band consists of John Reis (Hot Snakes, Rocket From The Crypt, Drive Like Jehu, Night Marchers) on guitar and other stringed instruments backed by the muscular, psych punk of Minneapolis’ The Blind Shake (Goner, Castle Face). Today, the band has shared a new track, “Sea Saw” with Noisey. (listen here)
