Pininfarina Fuoriserie Bicycle By 43 Milano
Classic Italian car designer Pininfarina has launched an extremely limited edition custom-built bike. Manufactured
by 43 Milano, the “Pininfarina Fuoriserie” was inspired by the brand’s
1930s and 40s designs such as the Carrozzeria Pinin Farina. Featuring a chromed steel frame adorned with a walnut briar-root
coating, the bike’s heritage is referenced in the leather-clad
handlebars and in the seat, dressed in the same fabric used for the
interior of Pininfarina’s limited edition 1936 Lancia Astura Bocca
model. It isn’t all classic throwbacks, though; concessions to
modernity include Bike+, a booster system that optimizes the cyclist’s
energy through a miniaturized electric engine, allowing the rider to
cover longer distances. There is also an LED lighting system based on a brand-new high
performance lamp and a plug connector which recharges mobile phones
through the dynamo. Just 30 of the bikes will be produced and prices start at €6,000 for the “naked” version and €9,000 for the motorized edition.

Ferrari F60 America
Ferrari has unveiled a new limited edition model commemorating its 60th anniversary in North America. The Ferrari F60 America is based on the supercar maker's F12 Berlinetta. Priced at around $3.6 million, it will be limited to just 10 production examples. The F60 America is powered by a 6.3-litre V12 engine
producing 545kW and 690Nm, bringing a 0-100km/h time of 3.1 seconds.
Drive is channelled to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch
automatic gearbox. While it is based on the F12 Berlinetta,
the F60 America doesn't share a single panel – the most obvious
differentiations being its "light fabric top" that can be used at speeds
of up to 120km/h. Other cosmetic differences include a newly-sculpted front
end, re-profiled bonnet, and new doors and front guards with air vents. Instead of traditional red the F60 America is finished
exclusively in a blue and white stripe colour scheme, a reference to the
famous North American Racing Team cars of the '60s. Ferrari has also used its racing history as inspiration for the fitout of the F60's interior. (drive)

BMW France asked Fred “Krugger” Bertrand, owner of Krugger Motorcycles,
to create a one-off model with the K1600, just as long as he kept the
161 hp engine and the electronics in place. Applying the concept in his
mind, Krugger re-shaped the external body with hand-built aluminum and
steel bodywork, spending more than 3.000 hours to create this beast. The chassis wrapping the engine was
totally transformed into something much longer and lower, while the
radiators were moved to the side to put the six exhaust pipes on
display.

Multimedia Artist Creates Portrait Of Nikola Tesla Using Electricity
To pay tribute to Serbian inventor and electrical
engineering genius Nikola Tesla, artist Phil Hansen recently created a
portrait of him using only electric sparks. A time lapse video of Hansen creating the painting shows
him connecting a couple of wires to a large battery. He then brings the
two naked ends of the wire together to produce sparks. He uses the
sparks to create burn marks of varying darkness on paper, creating the
eyes, nose and other features of Tesla’s face until the mind-blowing
portrait is complete. Hansen wore a protective mask the whole time he was making the picture,
and after zapping away for two whole days, the electrifying picture was
ready.

2015 Nissan Pulsar NISMO Concept
The Nissan Pulsar Nismo concept is currently making its global debut during the Paris Motor Show. Shown in public for the first time, the study “explores the styling
and engineering possibilities of a sporting flagship for the Pulsar
range”. Although this is still a concept, Nissan says the company is
“committed to developing its Nismo line-up with the ambition of
delivering bold new performance models to a new generation of drivers”. The Pulsar Nismo
is finished in satin grey with contrasting red lines. The front bumper
features large air intakes and brake cooling vents, while the rear has
integrated a diffuser and a central twin exhaust pipes. The concept also
benefits from 19-inch five arm alloy wheels with 235/35 R19 tires, a
unique carbon fiber rear spoiler, side skirts and flared wheel arches. Inside, the Pulsar Nismo Concept continues the race-inspired theme
with a red colored tachometer, deeply sculpted sports seats trimmed in
Alcantara, a sporty three-spoke steering wheel and alloy pedals. There are still no details about the engine that powers the sports
hatch, but the Japanese company explains the car features a sports
suspension system with revised spring and damper settings to provide
drivers with “the kind of agile and sporty responses that are synonymous
with Nismo models”. (worldcarfans)

Volkswagen XL Sport Concept
Volkswagen has previewed a limited-run lightweight sports car, the XL Sport, based on the fuel-sipping XL1 concept. Borrowing
Ducati's V-Twin two-cylinder engine from the 1199 Superleggera, which
produces 197 horsepower and revs to 11,000 rpm, the XL Sport promises to
reach 62 mph from a standstill in 5.7 seconds before topping out at an
impressive 168 mph. Power is put to the rear axle via a step-down
gear and a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission. Magnesium-alloy wheels are clad with 205/40 R18 rubber up front and
265/35 R18 tires on the back, while ceramic brakes help shave off speed
in a hurry. VW claims the XL has better aerodynamics than any
other sports car, with a drag coefficient of 0.258 and a 1.7-sq-m
frontal area. A light curb weight of just 1,962 lbs also contributes to
the performance figures, thanks to a carbon-fiber monocoque chassis. The
suspension setup is inspired by dedicated race cars, with pullrod
actuation for the front dampers and pushrods connected to the rear
control arms. VW promises to build 250 examples of the XL Sport,
though a release date and price tag have not been announced. The model
will be formally unveiled this week in Paris. (leftlanenews)
