Lamborghini Aventador Roadster Headed For Geneva

The Lamborghini LP700-4 Aventador Roadster is ready for its debut at the Geneva Motor Show 2012 in March. The roofless sports car is the logical follow-up of the current LP700-4 coupe, which was released at this year’s Geneve Auto Salon. Teamspeed reports that an insider saw some factory pics of the convertible Aventador, but he didn’t tell anything about the color of the car pictured, only that it is ready for production. His opinion was that car is simply stunning, even better then renderings we saw before. The insider tried to find out about the actual roof construction, but the only answer he received was that the retractable roof solution is much better than one used on Murcielago Roadster.

D Generation Plan To Make New Music

D Generation's reunion year recently culminated with two opening dates for Guns N' Roses. It's the type of show the band would have scoffed at back in the day, but frontman Jesse Malin looks at it differently now that he's older. "We used to hate all these bands," Malin tells Rolling Stone. "When D Generation first came out, we were just at war with everything, especially the California hair bands and stuff. Now it all seems to make sense, that we should be a band that should open up for GN'R." (more)

Voodoo Glow Skulls Announce New Album

Ska stalwarts Voodoo Glow Skulls are set to make their return in early 2012 with the release of Break The Spells, their first album since 2007's Southern California Street Music. The new record will serve as their ninth studio album to date and will arrive Jan. 17. To push the album, the brassy, upbeat six-piece will hit the road in January and February. I don't have any more details, such as tour dates or a track listing, but expect them to come soon given the album is due out relatively soon.

Naughty Dog Reveals Its Latest Post-Apocalyptic Game, "The Last Of Us"

Naughty Dog is taking a big step back from the world of Uncharted in its next PS3 exclusive game called The Last of Us. Sony promises that The Last of Us will be a genre-defining experience that blends survival and action elements to tell a character driven story about a population decimated by a modern plague. Abandoned cities are being reclaimed by nature and the remaining survivors are killing each other for food, weapons and whatever they can get their hands on. Joel, a ruthless survivor, and Ellie, a brave young teenage girl who is wise beyond her years, must work together to survive their journey across what remains of the United States.

Motorhead Releases Their Own Brand Of Vodka

Motorhead are launching their own brand of vodka, to go along with their line of wines. It features perhaps the most rock-worthy bottle ever.

According to the band’s official beverage site, Motorhead-branded vodka is full-bodied with a lightly fruity aftertaste and a touch of barley, which lends a grain character to the drink. It’s a premium blend made from locally harvested wheat. The liquor was distilled and bottled in Malmkoping, Sweden. Locally harvested wheat and locally sourced water, which has been filtered for thousands of years in a ridge in the town, is employed in the making of the vodka, giving it a very unique taste. The band said that the drink is made in the true spirit of rock ‘n’ roll, so pour a glass and crank the volume. It’ll be like having a drink with Lemmy at the bar inside the Rainbow in West Hollywood, since he’s known to frequent that particular, iconic rock haunt. The bottle is sleek and frosted black, emblazoned with the Motorhead logo. It’ll look cool on the shelf long after you’ve consumed the contents, suffered the hangover and moved on. Motorhead Vodka certainly isn’t your run-of-the-mill vodka. It will retail for approximately $60 U.S. dollars in the future, however it’s currently only available in Sweden only. Availability in further countries is coming soon.

 

Porsche Coming Back To Le Mans In 2014

Porsche—the car maker with the most Le Mans victories of any car company (16); the manufacturer once so obsessed with the race, they decided to install the key slot on the left-hand side of the steering wheel in order to save couple fractions of a second during the competition's standing start—is returning to the LMP1 class for the 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans. Time to show their new brethren at Audi how it's done. Rather than just drop off a press release to announce the big news (though they did that too), Porsche decided to share it with the world in a more universal manner—a succinct YouTube video.

 

Italian Cat Inherits $13.4 Million

An Italian cat has become the third richest animal in the world after inheriting almost $13.4 million after his wealthy owner died and left him the entire family fortune. Maria Assunta died last month aged 94 years old and according to lawyers entrusted with her estate left the fortune in property to Tommasino, a stray cat she had found and looked after because of her love for animals. Ms Assunta had a large property portfolio with homes and villas across the country, as well as several bulging bank accounts and share portfolios but no living relatives. Lawyers Anna Orecchioni and Giacinto Canzona who are representing her say that she left the fortune to Tommasino in a will she wrote and deposited with them in their office in Rome in October 2009. Mrs Orecchioni explained that under Italian law Tommassino  is not entitled to inherit the money directly and the will also asked for the money to be given to a 'worthy animal association, if one could be found.'

US Returns Gold Monkey Head To Peru

An ancient artifact stolen from Peru by tomb raiders has been found and given to Peruvian government officials, thanks in part to Delaware's US Attorney's Office. US Attorney Charles Oberly's office announced Thursday a gold monkey head, made by the Moche people around 300 AD, was stolen in 1987 by robbers raiding the royal tombs in northern Peru's Sipan region looking for gold. The monkey head ended up in the hands of a collector in Delaware who donated it to the Museum of New Mexico. The museum agreed to return the monkey head to Peru, and it was returned during a ceremony at the Peruvian Embassy in DC Thursday.
