Nike Air Zoom Talaria Mid Flyknit Sneaker Boot

NextEv Nio EP9 Electric Supercar

Chinese electric car startup NextEV has launched a vehicle it claims is the fastest electric car in the world. The EP9 supercar was unveiled Monday at a launch event in London and is the first model from NextEV's new brand, Nio. Dubbed the world's fastest electric car, it can go from zero to 200 kilometers per hour in 7.1 seconds, and has a top speed of 313 kilometers per hour. The electric vehicle can be fully charged in 45 minutes and has a range of 427 kilometers. It also features an interchangeable battery system, which allows drivers to swap out the empty cells in eight minutes. "The Nio EP9 was born to push limits and is the first stage of automotive production for Nio," said NextEV founder William Li. "It is a statement of our vision and technical and manufacturing capabilities." "It is a best-in-class product that showcases what is possible with electric vehicles," he continued. "We believe that when the car ownership experience exceeds expectations, electric vehicles will become the natural choice for everyone, leading to a more sustainable tomorrow." To showcase the car's top speeds, the company raced an EP9 around the Nürburgring track in Germany – where it beat the existing electric vehicle lap record with its 7:05:12 time. The car's high-speed capabilities have largely been achieved through innovative design and material choices. The cockpit and chassis is made from carbon to cut overall weight and aid aerodynamics, while its rear wing lifts to three positions to achieve twice the downforce of a regular Formula One car. At the unveiling, where the launch of the Nio brand was also announced, Li said he expects electric vehicles to become the "natural choice for everyone" – a comment similar to those made earlier this year by transportation designer Paul Priestman, who said battery-powered planes were the future. A number of Chinese car brands are emerging as new players in the automotive industry. Earlier this year, Nio's fellow Chinese startup Techrules unveiled a concept electric vehicle that can be recharged on the move via an on-board turbine. Even more recently, automotive company Geely launched Lynk – a car brand with sharable locks and an open platform designed to make its vehicles "the most connected in the world". Unlike Nio, however, Lynk is holding back on electric technology, which it described as still too experimental for the mass market. (dezeen)

Hamilton ODC X-03

At a dinner prior to the Hamilton Behind the Camera Awards in Los Angeles last week, the brand announced the release of the ODC X-03 timepiece. Hamilton has a long history with Hollywood, appearing on wrists in Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey and more recently in Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar. In fact, the watch was designed with input from Nathan Crowley, production designer for Interstellar and three-time Oscar nominee. The ODC X-03 is propelled by three separate movements, engulfed in a 49 mm by 52 mm case, and includes gaskets and rivets inspired by the Endurance spaceship. A realistic, 3D-printed image of Jupiter is behind the local time, home time and Coordinated Universal Time subdials. Set to launch in 2017, the Hamilton ODC X-03 will be priced at 3,500 Swiss francs (approximately $3,490). (watchjournal)

Jaguar I-Pace Electric SUV Concept

Ahead of the Los Angeles Auto Show, Jaguar debuted an all-electric SUV concept called the I-Pace, which has a range of 220 miles and should hit 0–60 in four seconds, placing the car in direct competition with Tesla’s Model X. The I-Pace is powered by twin electric motors on the front and rear axles, delivering 516 lb-ft of torque (numbers comparable with the company’s lightning-fast F-Type SVR coupe) and 400 horsepower. The absence of a combustion engine allows for a roomy, wide-open cabin; the center stack infotainment system is appropriately future-facing, with one sizable 12-inch touchscreen dedicated to navigation and another 5-inch screen for climate and infotainment. The American market seems to have an insatiable love affair with SUVs, and Jaguar’s luxury colleagues like Audi, Mercedes and BMW all have electric iterations in their pipeline. Still, the I-Pace is expected to be on the road in late 2018, making it the first real challenger to the Model X. Specs are in Tesla’s neighborhood: a 90kWh battery that gives 220 miles of range (compared with the Model X’s 250), a 0–60 time of four seconds (versus 3.2), and an 80 percent charge time of 90 minutes (45). Since it’s still “only” a concept, prices are only speculative.(gearpatrol)

Ducati has unveiled the 1299 Superleggera. This impressive machine boasts a power-to-weight ratio unlike anything that Ducati has created before. The ride boasts 215 horsepower and features a V-twin engine design that weighs only 344 lbs. The design features lightweight carbon fiber frame, subframe, wheels, and swingarm, while the Ohlins fork and rear stock makes a nice touch. The ride is finished off with an Akrapovic titanium exhaust, Brembo brakes, traction control, wheelie control, engine braking control, and cornering anti-lock brakes. The price for what Ducati calls the “quintessence of motorcycling?” £72,000 or $89,225 US.
